Local / Community Missions Opportunities and Needs

We are often asked about opportunities to serve within Wilson and surrounding counties. There are many good and worthy ministries and ways to serve and we would welcome any personal information or experience you might have on ministries or organizations you might not see on our list. The organizations we have listed are ones we have had personal experience with and feel are doing beneficial work within the community.

Wilson County Help Centers
We receive numerous calls each week asking about how to donate items like clothing, and household goods. There are times we do in fact have an immediate need for such things but when there is not an immediate need we usually do not have the capability or facilities to store items. During those times we would suggest that you donate those items to either the Mt. Juliet or Lebanon (Wilson County) Community Help Centers. These centers are located at:

Mt. Juliet Help Center
3425B N. Mt. Juliet Road
Mt. Juliet, TN 37122
www.mtjuliethelpcenter.org

Wilson County Community Help Center (Lebanon)
203 West High Street
Lebanon, TN 37087-2231
www.wilsoncountyhelpcenter.org
(615) 449-1856

You may also serve both help centers by donating your time. Volunteers are needed to help assemble food boxes, organize and distribute clothing, and many other various jobs within our thrift store.

Brooks House

  • Provide support and encouragement
  • Help with fundraising events
  • Be a mentor or tutor
  • Offer professional services

Don't worry if you only have a few hours a week to volunteer, any time given to help change a family's life is invaluable. The Bridge Ministry
The Bridge Ministry weekly outreach takes place each Tuesday evening under the Jefferson Street bridge in downtown Nashville, TN, regardless of the weather. While the praise team leads in worship, our team of volunteers serves a hot meal to our homeless friends. After the meal, a special guest speaker comes to bring the Word to our friends. At the end of the service, our volunteers distribute bags of groceries, toiletries, and new clothes to our guests. Our weekly average attendance (not counting volunteers) is between 200-250, though we have seen as many as 500 attendees.

You may also donate items for the homeless by bringing items from the list of needs below and placing in one of our 3 collection bins. The items most needed for the Bridge Ministry at this time are:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Shaving Razors
  • Men's & Women's Underwear (new)
  • Small Bar SoapSocks (new)
  • T-Shirts / Undershirts (new)
